What is DIYA?
DIYA welcomes all individuals from the South Asian community, embracing the rich diversity that comes with different languages, religions, and cultures—whether you speak Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Urdu, Punjabi, or any other language, and regardless of whether your faith is Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, or any other belief. At DIYA, we celebrate these differences, creating a hub that fosters unity, respect, and shared growth for all.

DIYA’s monthly activities respond to the culturally-specific mental health needs of our local South Asian community – such as mental health stigma, social isolation and loneliness – all of which are significant barriers to recovery.
What activities does DIYA run?
DIYA sessions include:
• Member-led activities (Yoga, Arts & Crafts, Cultural Events)
• Professionally-led sessions (Talking Therapies, etc.)
• Outings and excursions
• Picnics and trips
• Mental health and well-being workshops (self-love, compassion)
The design and delivery of Diya’s monthly activities is the result of our members’ contributions – all of whom have lived experience of mental ill health or support a friend or family member with poor mental wellbeing.
