Safety Net is a charity which supports the recovery of those affected by rape, exploitation, sexual and domestic abuse across Cumbria.
We offer advice, support, counselling and therapy to adults, children and young people, family and friends who have experienced, or been affected by, abuse and trauma. Our approach is trauma-informed, holistic and LGBT+ aware, working in partnership with other professionals and community groups, with the aim of improving wellbeing and quality of life.
There is high demand for our services – referrals have grown by 100% over the last five years.
Safety Net continues to flourish thanks to our dedicated team and the support of our funders.
We offer therapy and support across Cumbria. We currently offer services through telephone, video and email, and will resume face-to-face sessions and groups when safe to do so (read our Covid-19 statement). Going forward we intend to keep a choice of service delivery approaches as this is what our service users tell us they want.
Our Carlisle Head Office has office space, three counselling rooms, a play therapy room and an art room. We also have outreach offices in Whitehaven and Workington. The feedback we receive from our clients is that our space is extremely comfortable, with both children and adults having everything they need for talking and creative therapies including art or play therapy.
