The Cambridgeshire Handyperson Service supports disabled and older people in their own homes to live independently and safely for longer. We have six Handypeople who are DLF Trusted Assessor trained to complete assessments to a high level and install minor adaptations as needed.
How can we help?
Free services:
- We help increase independence and safety through a Home Safety Check, during which we assess individual needs and provide tailored advice. Where appropriate, we can prescribe minor aids and adaptations, including shower stools, perching stools, bath boards, half steps, bath steps, toilet frames, toilet seat risers and chair risers
- We provide and install grab rails
- We support people to access other services by signposting and referring
- We move furniture to support a hospital discharge - this service must be requested by a hospital professional.
Chargeable services:
- We can complete minor DIY tasks in the home. These include (but are not limited to): building flat pack furniture, fitting curtain poles/blinds, hanging pictures, changing lightbulbs (free if booked with an assessment), changing taps, gutter clean (bungalows only).
- We supply and fit key safes to enable emergency or carer access. These are charged at £85.
- We install mopstick banisters to provide support when going up and down stairs. A free, no obligation quote is provided in advance.
- We install galvanised rails outside to support safe access to doors, driveways, and gardens. A free, no obligation quote is provided in advance.
