Specialist Supported Employment for Residents with Disabilities

OUR NEWHAM WORK CAN SUPPORT YOU INTO WORK

In partnership with London Borough of Newham’s Adult Social Care, our Supported Employment Team assists Newham residents that have disabilities, long-term health conditions or those with caring responsibilities. We provide support to find and apply for work and support residents once employed.

We understand employment is an important part of life for all people because of the many advantages it provides including economic, social, health and wellbeing benefits.

Our Supported Employment Team have over 15 years of experience in delivering a friendly and focused service personalised to each individual’s needs as we understand everyone’s wants and needs are unique.

What We Do

We assist Newham residents through the whole recruitment journey and our support includes:

  • 1:1 support from a dedicated Supported Employment Specialist
  • Finding suitable employment
  • Help with the application process
  • Learn and develop interview techniques
  • Arrange with employers any reasonable adjustments that may be needed
  • In Work Support to help smooth the transition into employment
  • Access to Supported Internships for 18-24 year olds with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), giving them the skills to move into competitive employment

 

Who Can Access Our Supported Employment Team

Residents may be eligible if they are a Newham resident and meet one of the criteria below:

  • Learning disabilities;
  • Substance misuse issues;
  • Sensory/physical impairments;
  • Autism spectrum disorder;
  • Young people in transition from 16 years of age;
  • Those with unstable or fluctuating physical and long-term health conditions
  • Mental health support needs (for self- employment)
  • All carers
