Age UK East London offers free, independent, and quality-assured Social Welfare information and advice for adults and their carers in Hackney, Newham, and Tower Hamlets.

Our experienced advisors and volunteers can help you with a wide range of topics, including:

  • Benefits: PIP, ESA, Attendance Allowance, Pension Credit, and more
  • Housing: Repairs, rent arrears, housing applications, disputes
  • Grant applications: Options for low-income clients
  • Social Care: Carer’s rights and support
  • Consumer issues: Energy, bills, and more

We support you by:

  • Form filling
  • Understanding your rights
  • Liaising with other agencies
  • Signposting and accessing services
  • Reducing isolation and helping you stay active

Appointments are available at our offices, by phone, video call, or as home visits for those who need them. Our helpline is open Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 5.30pm, with a voicemail service outside these hours. We aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours and contact all clients within 5 working days.

Our team includes Bengali, Sylheti, Urdu, Punjabi, Vietnamese, and French speakers. All information is treated confidentially, subject to safeguarding policies.

This service is free of charge and only available to people living within the Age UK East London catchment area.

We welcome feedback and operate a waiting list to prioritise urgent cases.
