Child and adolescent speech and language therapy (SALT)

Our Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) service in Havering supports children and young people with communication and feeding difficulties. We offer specialist assessment, advice, and therapy for children under 16 registered with a GP in Havering, and for those up to 19 years old with an Education Health and Care Plan.

Who can refer? Referrals are accepted from parents, guardians, and professionals in healthcare, education, or social care. You can refer by completing our referral form and sending it by email or post.

  • Assessment and support for speech, language, and feeding difficulties
  • Open to children under 16 registered with a Havering GP, or up to 19 with an EHCP
  • Children registered with a Barking and Dagenham GP who access most services in Havering are also eligible
  • Appointments available Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5pm

Service access criteria: Patients who display communication or feeding difficulty; patients under 16 years old who are registered with a GP in Havering; patients who are registered with a Barking and Dagenham GP but who access most of their services, for example school, nursery or portage, in Havering; the age limit is extended to 19 years old for those with an Education Health and Care Plan.
