Samaritans Helpline
Verified service

Samaritans is here to listen, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Whatever you're going through, you don't have to face it alone. Our trained volunteers offer confidential, non-judgmental support to anyone struggling to cope, feeling overwhelmed, or experiencing suicidal thoughts.

How we help:

  • Free, confidential support by phone, email, letter, or in person at local branches.
  • No judgment, no pressure – just a safe space to talk about whatever is troubling you.
  • Support for everyone – you don’t need to be suicidal to contact us. We’re here for anyone who needs to talk.

Ways to get in touch:

  • Call us free on 116 123 – available day or night, every day of the year.
  • Email us – write to jo@samaritans.org for a written response.
  • Write a letter – some people find it easier to express themselves in writing.
  • Visit a local branch – find your nearest Samaritans branch for face-to-face support.
