Combined Minds is a free app developed by the teenage mental health charity stem4, designed to help families and friends support young people with their mental health. Created by Dr. Nihara Krause, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, the app uses a Strengths-Based Approach to encourage positive change and resilience in young people.
Whether you are a parent, carer, sibling, or friend, Combined Minds provides practical strategies and guidance to help you create the right environment for recovery. The app helps you:
- Understand how to support a young person with a diagnosed mental health condition.
- Learn when to step in and when to step back.
- Build on the strengths and resourcefulness of both the young person and yourself.
- Access clear, useful instructions and tools, such as safety nets and action plans.
Important: Combined Minds is an aid to treatment, not a replacement. Please encourage the young person you support to see their GP for professional help. stem4’s Resources page offers guidance on booking GP appointments.
Cost: The app is free in the UK. Charges may apply elsewhere; all proceeds support stem4’s work in providing evidence-based mental health support for young people.
Who is it for? Families, friends, and carers of young people with mental health needs.
How to access: Download the Combined Minds app from your device’s app store.
Note: stem4 does not provide a counselling service.
