Mental Health Social Prescribing (MHSP) is a team funded by Camden & Islington's NHS trust, in collaboration with Camden's Mental Health Core Teams (North West, Kentish Town, South).
The team is employed by Mind in Camden and is based at Barnes House on Camden Road.
MHSP offers up to twelve 1to1 sessions that can be in-person, by phone or video call. Meetings can also take place in the community, e.g. community centres, libraries, coffee shops and parks. We do not do home visits.
Mission Statement:
Our social prescribing team value a collaborative and human approach. At the heart of our work, we support clients to consider what’s important to them and make meaningful connections within their community.
Through 1to1 sessions, we explore ways in which clients can enrich their lives by doing things that support their relationships and mental health.
By engaging with social prescribing and identifying their strengths, clients can build confidence in making decisions that best serve their own interests and well-being.
We hope, that with our consistent and reliable support, clients can leave feeling more hopeful and inspired for their futures.
Sessions with Link Workers will be focused on exploring goals/interests/passions and identifying barriers. There is no pressure to actually do anything with us; we recognise how difficult it can be and that people may not be ready to take action, but we hope to support people thinking about how to take that first step.
To be referred, Camden residents (only) are directed to ask their GP to refer them to the Camden Mental Health Core Team and specify that they would like to be referred to MHSP.
For any further questions, feel free to contact MHSP's manager (George) by emailing Social.Prescribing@candi.nhs.uk
