Pentreath is a Cornish mental health charity dedicated to supporting individuals with emotional and mental health difficulties to overcome barriers and thrive. Since 1991, we have helped thousands of people across Cornwall believe in their potential and achieve personal and vocational goals—regardless of the challenges they face.
Our experienced team, with around 75% drawing on personal lived experience of mental health, offers empathetic, person-centred, and tailored support. We work in partnership with the NHS, Cornwall Council, and other local organisations to ensure our services are relevant and accessible to all, especially those facing discrimination or stigma.
What we offer:
- One-to-one, voluntary support delivered by trained Advisors
- Help to improve mental health and emotional wellbeing using a variety of tools and techniques
- Support to develop social and emotional skills, healthy lifestyles, and relationships
- Confidence-building, motivation, and self-esteem enhancement
- Setting and achieving personal goals around education, employment, or training
- Access to opportunities in the community, including local groups, employers, and services
- Building long-term coping strategies and reducing reliance on clinical interventions
We are adaptable—our support is delivered where you feel comfortable, whether at home, in community centres, or local cafes. We use trauma-informed tools and co-develop support plans that reflect your goals, cultural background, and accessibility needs. Regular reviews ensure our service remains flexible and responsive.
Our service is always voluntary. We never pressure engagement and respect your choices at every stage. We actively support you to attend appointments, apply for services, or simply show up for sessions—empowering you to challenge barriers and make future decisions with confidence.
Our impact speaks for itself: 96% of clients would recommend us to family and friends, and 95% say our support improved their mental health and wellbeing.
