Well Versed is a vibrant weekly arts and social group for older people, hosted by All Change in Islington. The group meets every Thursday from 2:30–4:30pm at All Change, offering a welcoming space to connect, create, and celebrate life through poetry, mindful movement, music, dance, and improvisation.
What happens at Well Versed?
- Write poetry and share stories
- Take part in mindful movement and listen to music
- Enjoy occasional dance and improvisation sessions
- Collaborate with professional artists across different artforms
- Perform and curate events for older people, including socials and block parties in care homes
- Participate in intergenerational and international projects
Each session is supported by resident associate artist Francesca Beard, and every person and idea is welcome. The group is known for its warmth, inclusivity, and celebration of the wisdom and experience of older people. Equal measures of comfort and support are offered, and there is always a great selection of biscuits!
Refreshments and transport are provided, and everyone is welcome. You can drop in or contact Rachel to take part.
Well Versed has published anthologies and performed at venues such as Union Chapel, Rich Mix, Sadler’s Wells Theatre, Almeida Theatre, and Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. Their work explores themes of connection, memory, and celebration, and is available from the All Change Bookshop.
