Health Squad is a mobile and community-based service dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of vulnerable groups who are at risk of significant physical and mental health issues.
Our team provides health and wellbeing advice and health screening in a variety of community venues and mobile locations, making it easier for people to access support where they feel comfortable.
Who we support:
- Substance misusers
- People at risk of homelessness
- Rough sleepers
- Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities
- Veterans
- Individuals in contact with the criminal justice system
We aim to break down barriers to healthcare and offer practical, compassionate support tailored to each person's needs.

Where we work: Health Squad operates in community venues and mobile locations across the region, including Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Sunderland, and County Durham.
The only criteria necessary to access the Health Squad is that the individual must be:
- Part of a group defined as vulnerable, such as:
- Substance misusers
- Homeless (including rough sleepers, hidden homeless, sofa surfing, in emergency accommodation or transient accommodation)
- Gypsy Roma Travelling communities
- Veterans
- Prison leavers
- Refugees
- Vulnerable minorities
- Domestic abuse survivors
- Part of another vulnerable group which is in need of support, such as someone failing to access services due to service/social exclusion.
- Failing to engage with healthcare provisions (including failure to engage appropriately).
