Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland's Dementia Support Service offers comprehensive support for people living with dementia and their carers across Leicester and Leicestershire.
Personalised One-to-One Support:
- Tailored information and advice to help individuals and carers throughout their dementia journey.
- Support available face-to-face in people’s homes, at Dementia Support Clinics, over the telephone, or online.
- Focuses on strengths and abilities to help people live well with dementia.
- Short-term emotional support and help accessing other health, social care, and community services.
Post Diagnostic Information Sessions:
- Weekly online and face-to-face sessions covering understanding dementia, strategies for managing symptoms, planning ahead, and information about local services.
Memory Cafes and Social Groups:
- Facilitates Memory Cafes, social groups, peer groups, and activities such as walking, gardening, and trips out to encourage social interaction and reduce isolation.
Informal Carer Learning:
- Empowers families and informal carers with knowledge and skills to support individuals living with dementia.
- Topics include understanding dementia, support strategies, managing money, available support, planning for the future, and self-care.
- Ad hoc sessions on first aid, mindfulness, and moving & handling are also available.

Aged 18+ with a formal diagnosis of dementia received under the age of 65
You are a family member or carer of someone living with dementia who was diagnosed under the age of 65
You are a person living with dementia who is registered with a general medical practice within Leicester City or Leicestershire diagnosed under the age of 65
You are family member or informal carer of a person with dementia who was diagnosed under the age of 65 (Please note that you do not have to be a resident in Leicester or Leicester City)
