From Me To You The Art of Survival

From Me To You – The Art of Survival is a UK-based organisation dedicated to educating, empowering, and supporting Black and marginalised cancer communities and their carers. Our mission is to reduce healthcare inequalities for people of colour and challenge the taboos surrounding cancer, ensuring equal access to care and information.

What We Offer:

  • Support Groups: Fortnightly meetings provide a safe space for Black people living with cancer and their carers to share experiences, gather information, and build community.
  • Workshops: Training and awareness sessions led by facilitators or partner organisations, focusing on empowerment and education.
  • Hospital Visits: We can accompany members to hospital appointments, helping them communicate effectively with healthcare providers and offering emotional support.
  • Support Line: A dedicated support line will soon be available as an alternative to face-to-face sessions.
  • Nutritional Advice: Access to an oncology dietician for culturally specific nutritional guidance, including accompaniment to nutritionist visits if needed.
  • Community Socials: Social events to help members connect, rebuild confidence, and form meaningful relationships.
  • Podcast: Launching in 2024, featuring a renowned broadcaster and cancer survivor, sharing stories and insights.

Advocacy & Research:

  • Advocacy: Campaigning for equal care, providing cultural sensitivity training to medical professionals, and promoting Black inclusion in clinical trials.
  • Panels: Organising community panel discussions, such as the ‘Cancer Loss of Identity Series’.
  • Research: Collaborating with researchers for data collection and analysis to improve healthcare access and outcomes.
