Independent advocates provide a bridge between clients and authorities, whether that is the NHS, local or national government or similar. We support clients to be heard and more importantly listened to. We have no agenda, we do not offer advice or a befriending service. We are truly independent, our interest is solely to support our clients so that their views, thoughts and opinions are heard and considered. Commonly, we attend meetings with our clients, we can go with them to court, to GP or hospital appointments, to social services and care reviews. Wherever our clients feel outnumbered, intimidated or daunted, an Angel can go with them to support and encourage them to speak their truths to power. We can also request information on behalf of clients or write letters on behalf of clients, we might signpost our clients to other service providers. We make sure our clients understand everything that's going on around their issue, we might discuss consequences and possible pathways for them, but we will never tell them what to do.
Angel Advocates also offers Spiritual Advocacy for those issues which are bigger than us all, such as grief, illness, guilt, shame, sadness, loss. For these issues, there may be no practical solution, but our advocates will walk with you, if you like we will pray with you and for you. Angels is a Christian charity but our spiritual advocacy is for people of all faiths and none.
