Derby and Derbyshire Talking Therapies offers free NHS-funded Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for adults aged 16 and over who are registered with a GP in Derby or Derbyshire. CBT is a structured talking therapy that helps you understand how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours are connected and provides practical strategies to change unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours that contribute to anxiety, low mood and other mental health difficulties. CBT can be delivered in multiple formats to fit your needs, including one-to-one sessions with a therapist, guided self-help using structured resources, CBT webinars (live online sessions), and digital CBT through the SilverCloud programme. Delivery methods include in-person, telephone, video, or entirely online therapy, depending on availability and your preferences. The service emphasises practical, skills‑based approaches that you can use beyond therapy and are suitable for a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, and related conditions. To access CBT, you don’t necessarily need to see your GP first. If you’re 16+ and registered with a GP in Derby or Derbyshire, you can refer yourself online via our digital assistant pop‑up or by phone to start an assessment. Referrals can also come from GPs or other healthcare professionals. Self-referral is quick, confidential and free; the service also provides guidance on waiting times, with NHS targets encouraging timely access. Cost is stated as free to use, funded by the NHS. If you’re ready to begin, you can call 0333 041 7262 (phone lines hours: Mon‑Thu 8am–7:45pm, Fri 8am–4:30pm) or self-refer online via the digital assistant. Derby and Derbyshire Talking Therapies operates as part of the NHS-funded Talking Therapies in the region and is delivered by Everyturn in partnership with Vita Health Group.
