Feel Good in The Forest

Feel Good in the Forest is a supportive programme of activities for people with mild-to-moderate health conditions, or who are looking to improve their health and wellbeing, to meet new people and enjoy being outdoors. People can self-refer or be referred by a social prescribing link worker or support organisation.

You must book your space and register in advance to take part.

Activities currently offered at Guisborough Forest include:

Tai Chi

Dates and times 10am-11am

25th May, 22nd June, 20th July, 24th August and 14th September

Activity details

Join others to take part in mindful movement and enjoy the ancient practice of Tai Chi in the forest. This session aims to introduce you to this gentle exercise to aid flexibility, strength and balance and will include some mindfulness and relaxation. These sessions are delivered by an experienced instructor and can be adapted to suit the needs to those attending.

Walking photography

Dates and times

Sessions take place from 10am-12pm on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Friday of each month between April and September 2025.

Activity details

These sessions are designed to help you improve your photography skills with a camera or smart phone. They are in a safe, supportive and friendly environment and include time to share and socialise after each session.

Forest Yoga

Dates: 10.30am-11.30am on the 1st and 2nd Friday of each month from May to September

These sessions are designed for beginners and include a warm-up, standing poses, and a cooldown whilst taking in the healing benefits of nature and the forest.

Feel Good Beginners Running Course

Dates: The course will run weekly for 9 weeks commencing on Tuesday 29th April 2025.

These sessions are designed for total beginners with the aim of being able to run for 30 minutes at your own pace by the end of the 9-week course.

A typical session will include social time, a gentle warm up, exercises that will compliment your growing running fitness, and a running session which will include alternating between running and walking. In week 1 you won’t be running longer than a minute at a time. You will also have the choice to be part of a Facebook group for support and motivation outside of these sessions as well as being given 2 ‘homework’ sessions per week.

Wellbeing Trail and optional journal

This is a self led trail that people can access at any time. 

Themed panels along the trail invite you to pause, notice and connect with the forest environment around you.  

A forest wellbeing journal is also available to help you get even more benefit from the experience, offering additional mindful things to do while you’re out in the forest and at home.
