The Lantern Initiative is a grassroots social enterprise dedicated to promoting mental wellbeing within Muslim communities across the UK and beyond. We empower individuals, foster understanding, and challenge stigma through a blend of education, support, and community-driven initiatives.
Our work is guided by faith and rooted in the principle of Ihsān (excellence and compassion). We offer:
- Faith-sensitive mental health support that combines lived experience, Islamic values, and psychological insights.
- Psychospiritual education – holistic learning that blends Islamic tradition with modern psychological understanding to support emotional and spiritual growth.
- Awareness-raising events and workshops that highlight real mental health challenges faced by Muslims today.
- Community empowerment – helping individuals build skills and confidence to care for their own and others’ mental wellbeing.
Our events and workshops are thoughtfully curated using a faith-informed framework and an Islamic psychospiritual approach. All are welcome – our activities are open and accessible to everyone, Muslim or otherwise.
We have delivered:
- 56+ events and workshops
- 130+ coffee morning drop-in sessions across 4 cities
- 400+ counselling sessions funded
