Service access criteria:
The patient should:
- Be aged 18 years or over.
- BMI 30+ (reduced to 27.5+ in people of Black African, African-Caribbean and Asian origin and/or those with comorbidities or clinical conditions)
- Registered with a GP in Wolverhampton
Exclusion criteria:
- Patients who have self-funded to attend a weight management service in the last 3 months
- Under 18 years of age
- Pregnant women
- Has a significant unmanaged comorbidity or clinical condition (e.g., chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, unmanaged meaning not on medication and/or not subject to regular clinical review or have not completed a current active management programme such as diabetes management or cardiac rehabilitation)
- Severe/moderate frailty as recoded on a Livfrailty register
- Has a diagnosed eating disorder
- Has had bariatric surgery in the last two years
- There is no upper age limit, however appropriate support should be given to older adults participating in the Service considering the risk of muscle mass loss and potential inaccuracy of BMI in older adults
- The provider must ensure referrals are made to the appropriate specialist services if a service user is deemed ineligible
