Newham's Homeless Prevention and Advice Service (HPAS) helps people who are threatened with homelessness to stay in their current home or to move to accommodation elsewhere. The service can: • Produce a Personal Housing Plan with you • Mediate between you and the person asking you to leave to try to keep you in your home • Negotiate the rent with your landlord • Advise you on your rights of occupation • Help you increase income through employment and welfare benefits • Provide a Discretionary Housing Payment to offer short-term financial support • Advise on how to find somewhere to live • Assess any housing duty owed. To access HPAS you will need to complete an online application form and submit the required documents. If you already have an open application, you can use the online Homelessness Enquiry Form to chase progress or provide additional information. Cost information is not stated on the website.
