Melbourn Timebank is a welcoming group of individuals and organisations in Melbourn and the surrounding area, dedicated to swapping skills and support. Members help each other or share hobbies, skills, and knowledge, earning time credits in return. Everyone is welcome!
This activity is great for wellbeing because:
- What is good for the community is good for our mental and physical wellbeing.
- Meeting other people tackles loneliness and isolation.
- Sharing skills and talents grows confidence and self-esteem.
As a member, you can:
- Share your hobbies, skills, and knowledge with others.
- Earn time credits for every hour you help, which you can spend on yourself or donate to a community pot to help others.
- Attend Timebank events and groups, such as the Arts & Crafts group and the Dog Cafe.
Everyone’s time is equal: one hour of help earns one time credit to spend when you need it. For example, an hour spent painting the garden fence of someone living with dementia, or mowing their lawn, is equal to offering a room for a support group to meet in.
Joining Melbourn Timebank is free, but members pay for their own refreshments at coffee mornings and lunches.
