POhWER provides a wide range of advocacy services for adults in Cambridgeshire, working in partnership with Cambridgeshire Deaf Association.
Our team supports people to have their voices heard, understand their rights, and make informed choices about their care and treatment. We offer both statutory and non-statutory advocacy, ensuring everyone can access the help they need.
- Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) – including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and Relevant Person's Paid Representative Services (RPPR).
- Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) – supporting people to understand and exercise their rights under the Mental Health Act.
- Care Act Advocacy – for Cambridgeshire residents and those at HMP Littlehey or HMP Whitemoor, helping people be involved in decisions about their care and support.
- NHS Complaints Advocacy – helping people who want to make a complaint about NHS-funded treatment.
- Community Advocacy – for anyone needing support to deal with an issue, speak up for themselves, or be listened to.
- Community Advocacy for Adults with Learning Disability and/or Autism – tailored support for adults with learning disabilities or autism.
How to access our services:
- Referrals can be made by downloading the relevant referral forms from our website or by contacting us directly.
- If you are unsure about eligibility or need advice, our team is happy to help by phone or email.
- We also offer advocacy support in British Sign Language (BSL) through our partnership with Cambridgeshire Deaf Association.
All services are free and confidential. We welcome calls via Relay UK for people who are deaf, have hearing loss, or speech impairment.
Professional referrals are required for:
