Social Prescribing
Verified service

Social Prescribing  connects Barking and Dagenham residents with non‑clinical support to improve health and wellbeing.

A dedicated link worker takes time to listen and to understand what matters to you, then works with you to create a practical, personalised plan. Your plan may include signposting to, or referrals into, local services and activities that exist in the community or through statutory services.

Examples include social groups or clubs (games, hobby groups, walking or gardening clubs), physical activity sessions, counselling or mental‑health supports, debt and benefits advice, volunteering opportunities, and practical help to navigate services. The aim is to enhance your wellbeing by reducing loneliness, improving confidence, and helping you stay independent.

The process can help you become more active, more connected with others, and more able to manage daily life. How to access: Referrals are made by health professionals.
