East Staffordshire and Surrounds Diabetes UK Patient Network
Who are we?
We are a local support group for people living with diabetes, their families, partners, carers, and anybody interested in diabetes.
In December 2019, we relaunched and became known as the East Staffordshire and Surrounds Diabetes UK Patient Network. This was to remove "geographical boundaries" and make the network available to anyone who wished to join the network.
Since that time, we have increased our work with Diabetes UK, GPs, Nurses, Pharmacists, other Health partners, the UHDB Trust and Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Integrated Care Board. This has assisted in providing a structured Diabetes Patient Network of care for people with diabetes and those family members, friends, and carers who offer their support.
Wider aspects
We also have representation in the East Staffordshire District Patient Engagement Group and many other community-based organisations. In May 2022, the network became a member of Support Staffordshire, which helps reach out to all communities. The current Chair also sits on various Health organisations to ensure diabetes care is high on the agenda.
Having this presence helps the network to achieve its overall aim:
"To enable people to have a voice in their diabetes care"
We hold face-to-face meetings in 5 locations, Burton on Trent, Uttoxeter, Lichfield, Tamworth and Burntwood, along with a virtual meeting that is via ZOOM. All our meetings are on an approximate six-week basis. At the face-to-face meetings, we discuss all aspects of diabetes and exchange information.

The meetings Tuesday mornings, between 9.30am and 11.30am
The dates are 3rd February, 17th March, 28th April, 9th June, 21st July,
1st September, 13th October and 24th November.
2. Burton Library, Meadow Road, Burton DE14 1LD.
The meetings Tuesday afternoons between 2pm and 4pm.

3. St Editha's, 29 Church Street, Tamworth B79 7BX
The meetings Wednesday mornings between 10.30am and 12.30pm.
The dates are, 4th February, 18th March, 29th April, 10th June, 22nd July, 2nd September, 14th October and 25th November
4. The HUB St Mary's Market Place Lichfield WS13 6LG.
The meetings Wednesday afternoons, between 2pm and 4pm.
The dates are, 4th February, 18th March, 29th April, 10th June, 22nd July, 2nd September, 14th October and 25th November
5. MHA, Old Mining College, Queen Street, Burntwood WS7 4QH.
The meetings Thursday mornings, between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

Virtual meetings are also held, via Zoom, and these are on the following Thursday evenings between 7pm and 8.30pm
