Outrigger Canoeing is a racing sport of the canoeing discipline in which canoes with lateral floats called outriggers fastened to the hull is used for racing or for fun paddling. The sport is very popular in the Hawaiian islands and has recently come to the UK.
It is an ideal sport if you enjoy team sports and ideal for meeting new people and get fit at the same time.
Technique – for newbies, you would think the paddling motion is instigated by the arms, but it's actually not. The power comes from your lats (think upper back) and rotation of your torso (using your abs) to pull the paddle's blade through the water. This is what makes it such a good workout.
We located at The Royal Albert Docks opposite London city airport.
