Shine offers dedicated, confidential sexual health clinics and education for young people aged 21 and under in Newham.
Our clinics are free, discreet, and welcoming. You can walk in and wait no appointment needed. We’re open after school and college hours, making it easy to access support at a convenient time.
- Advice and information on sexual health, relationships, and contraception
- Hormonal contraception (pills, patches, injections, coils, implants, vaginal rings)
- Emergency contraception (morning after pill, up to 5 days after unprotected sex)
- Screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Free condoms and c-cards
- Support to access other services, including abortion services if needed
We also provide programmes on relationships and sex education for young people living or studying in Newham. These sessions cover:
- Sex and the risks STIs, pregnancy, contraception
- Healthy relationships
- Recognising abuse in relationships
- Sex and the law
- Building self-esteem
- Assertiveness and saying no
How it works:
- On arrival, you’ll complete a simple form and wait to be seen by an outreach worker or nurse
- You’ll be seen alone partners, friends, and family wait outside
- STI testing is private and may involve self-swabbing; HIV screening includes a blood test
- All consultations are confidential. We only share information if you’re at risk, and never with parents
- If you speak little English, we use Language Line for interpretation
Education and outreach: Shine offers tailored education programmes for individuals or groups, including those with SEND or identified as vulnerable. Sessions can be delivered in clinics, schools, colleges, or community settings. Professionals can refer young people with their consent.
Access: Self-referral is welcome just turn up. Professionals can also refer using our referral form or by email.
Cost: All Shine services are completely free.
