We have set up and operate a national specialist faith and culturally sensitive helpline that is confidential and non-judgmental, which offers information, support, guidance and referrals for those who are suffering from or at risk of abuse or facing problems on a range of issues.
We provide help on about 43 issues, including:
- Mental health
- Domestic abuse
- Honour-based abuse
- Forced marriage
- Sexual abuse
- Sexual harassment
- Stalking
Those calling the helpline are likely to fall into three categories depending on the type of help required:
- Need Immediate intervention - Callers who are in a crisis situation and need immediate help.
- Need the right information - Callers wanting information about safety, their rights and / or help or support available so they can make informed decisions and plan next steps.
- Need support to navigate problems - Callers who want advice about a problem and want someone to talk to so they feel more confident and empowered to make decisions and receive emotional support while they navigate their situations.
We operate a faith and culturally sensitive confidential and non-judgemental counselling service. Counselling can also be given in Urdu, Punjabi, Mirpuri, Bengali and Arabic. There may be a waiting list. To be refereed to one of our counsellors please contact our Helpline.
Although our reach is primarily Muslim women, the helpline will accept calls from and support women of any faith or no faith. Men who are concerned about women and girls can also call the helpline. If men and boys need support themselves then they can also call the helpline.
