
BID Cumbria
As part of the BID Cumbria (Equipment, Information, Advice and Support Service for Deaf/Hard of Hearing People) service, we offer a specialist equipment support service and one to one confidential information, advice and support services across Cumbria for anyone over 18 who is deaf, hard of hearing or who has a dual-sensory loss and their carers.
Specialist Equipment Support Service
As part of our BID Cumbria (Equipment, Information, Advice and Support Service for Deaf/Hard of Hearing People) service, we offer a specialist equipment support service for deaf, hard of hearing and dual sensory impaired residents living in Cumbria. We also provide support to families, carers, professionals and other organisations, working together to improve the lives of Cumbrian residents.
The service supports people aged 18 and over as well as young people aged 16 and over transitioning from children's services.
We can offer support using a range of communication methods to suit your needs.
Services are carried out in the home, by appointment, during the following times.
Monday - Thursday from 9:00am - 5:00pm
Friday from 9:00am - 4:30pm
Our Services
Assessments
Our experienced Technical Officers undertake assessments and where eligible, help people access equipment for use within the home. Assessments are carried out in the home by prior appointment only. Information available on request.
Specialist Equipment Support
Following an assessment and subject to Care Act eligibility, we can provide equipment such as pager systems, personal and domestic hearing loops, minicom equipment, home alerting systems and flashing doorbells.
