Handyperson Service

Age UK Richmond's handyperson service is designed to help and keep older people in certain groups to live independently and safely at home, by delivering minor adaptations and repairs.

What can we help with?

-Change taps/basic plumbing
-Electrics; change plugs/light fittings/fuses/basic repairs
-Basic window repairs, hinges, handles
-Fitting spy holes/door chains
-Putting up shelves, blinds, curtain rails
-Hanging pictures/mirrors
-Assembling flat pack furniture
-Fitting key safes
-Fitting grab rails
-Replacing toilet seats
-Moving furniture
-Changing lightbulbs

Our handyperson carries Age UK Richmond ID and will have all the necessary tools to complete the job.

How much will it cost?

This heavily subsidised service is available to those over 65; registered disabled; eligible for support from social services due to physical or sensory impairment; full time unpaid carers; those at risk of falls; individuals recently discharged from hospital and individuals with a dementia diagnosis.

Some smaller jobs are free of charge, or we will charge for materials only. The subsidised rate for most other jobs is £25 an hour. We can accept payment by card or cheque. Card payment will be taken by handheld card payment device carried by Handypersons.

Cancellation fee 
If you wish to cancel a visit, please contact us as soon as possible. A cancellation fee of £12.50 will be charged for any visit cancelled within 24 hours.
