Chelston Workshops - The Shed

The Shed at Chelston Workshops is a friendly, volunteer-run community workshop in Chelston, Torquay. We welcome both men and women over the age of 18 who are interested in woodwork, metalwork, and learning new practical skills.

Our well-equipped workshop offers a supportive space for up to 12 people per session. Whether you want to work on your own project, learn basic carpentry or wood turning, or get involved in making items for sale to support The Shed, you’ll find a warm welcome and a chance to connect with others.

  • Open to adults (18+), all skill levels welcome
  • Work on personal projects or join group activities
  • Skilled tradespeople and enthusiastic amateurs on hand
  • Opportunities to learn and share skills in wood and metal work
  • Support for community projects and repairs

We are a non-profit group, aiming to be self-funding. There is no subscription charge. For personal projects or skill sessions, we ask for a negotiable donation of £3–£10 per morning session. Charges for materials and labour may apply for community projects.

If you’re looking for a place to meet others, learn, and make a difference, The Shed is here for you. For more information, see our Welcome and Constitution documents or get in touch by email.
