We exist to support you when you need help the most. By providing housing, and disaster relief in the form of animal feed or services to farmers in need across England and Wales, we stand by your side and help you get back on your feet.
Our story began in the worst of times. Initially set up to help farmers suffering with the consequences of classical swine fever and then the 2001 Foot and Mouth outbreak, we haven’t looked back since and are continuing to build on two decades of success.
We operate at real scale too. When natural disasters occur, we provide emergency support, whether it is required nationally or regionally. Likewise, when your housing needs become a major obstacle, turn to us.
We purchase properties specifically for farmers perhaps like you, to move into on subsidised rents. This means that when you retire or have to leave farm tenancies, we can help you find somewhere to live in a location you wish to be and at an affordable cost. We don’t want you to be forced into moving to a flat, apartment or small house in a nearby town or city, when the countryside is what you know and love.
We offer help with housing in much the same way for younger people, at affordable rents, because we recognise that when you’re getting started in a rural career, the costs of a house in the surrounding countryside is so often out of reach.
Rest assured, what we are doing is sustainable. Most of our day-to-day running costs are covered by our rental income which gives us the flexibility to dedicate the vast majority of any donations and fundraising income towards meeting our core charitable aims.
