Maidstone Safe Haven

Maidstone Safe Haven provides out-of-hours mental health support for adults aged 18 and over in the Kent area. If you are feeling distressed, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn for help, our service offers a welcoming, safe, and non-judgmental environment—sometimes known as a 'crisis cafe'.

How we support you:

  • Walk-in service—no referral needed from your GP or Care Coordinator.
  • Support available face-to-face, by phone, email, or video consultation.
  • One-to-one emotional support from trained mental health professionals.
  • Help with creating staying well and crisis plans.
  • Information and signposting to other useful services and organisations.
  • Collaboration with GPs, Community Mental Health Teams, Crisis Teams, A&E Mental Health Liaison Teams, Police, Ambulance Services, and Street Triage to ensure you have access to appropriate support.
  • Access to our 24/7 helpline for emotional support and information, even when the Haven is closed.

Opening hours: 6pm–11pm every day, including weekends and bank holidays.

Location: Kestrel House, Knightrider Street, Maidstone, Kent, ME15 6LU

How to access: You can walk in during opening hours, call, email, or request a video consultation. If you are in immediate crisis and need urgent support, please call us or dial 999. Please note that emails are not monitored in real time and may not receive an immediate response.

Who is this service for? Anyone aged 18+ in the Kent area. The service is not suitable for urgent medical attention (e.g., after self-harm)—please attend your nearest A&E or call 999 for medical emergencies.

What to expect: A friendly, supportive space where you can talk, receive emotional support, and get help with planning for your wellbeing. If your behaviour is inappropriate or negatively impacts the safety and wellbeing of others, you may be turned away.
