Thrive Birmingham offers a welcoming and supportive environment for adults, children, young people, and communities in the heart of King’s Heath Park. Our centre specialises in therapeutic gardening programmes designed for people with defined health, social, or educational needs.
We use social and therapeutic horticulture (STH) to help improve physical and psychological health, communication, and thinking skills. Our trained practitioners and dedicated volunteers take a person-centred approach, working in:
- Small groups for focused therapeutic intervention
- One-to-one sessions for those needing extra support
- Larger groups to encourage social interaction, discussion, and group learning
Our safe and private TV gardens provide a secure space for client gardeners, therapists, and volunteers. We also run outreach projects in the wider community.
Current programmes include:
- General Sessions: Personalised support for adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, or autism
- Carers Connect to Gardening: Special sessions for carers
- Grow and Learn: For young adults aged 14+
- Growing Out: For women experiencing anxiety, depression, or other forms of mental ill health (funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund)
We welcome referrals from social services, support workers, GPs, family members, schools, charities, or self-referral. Contact us to discuss your needs, arrange a visit, or find out how to get involved.
