Southampton Sight offer a one stop hub for people living with sight loss.
Whether it comes in the form of information and advice about equipment or visual aids, arranging for a sight loss advisor to visit a blind or partially sighted person at home, or offering emotional reassurance, we always aim to provide help and support in a warm, friendly and understanding way.
We believe that sight loss is not life loss. We promote independence, life skills and social inclusion.
Equipment & Resource Centre
We stock a huge range of specialised and adapted equipment to help visually impaired people with daily living both in and away from home. At our centre the equipment is available to view and try before you buy. Visitors are welcome to come along with their partner, friend or family member to participate in the experience. Our knowledgeable team are always on hand to provide information and advice about the products.
Information, Advice & Guidance
We recognise how important it is to be provided with quality information, advice and guidance. All our staff receive regular training so that they are kept up to date with the latest news, products and benefits support. Whether its face to face, via the telephone or email, our staff are here to help with whatever query you may have.

Community Outreach
Our team can come out to visit individuals within their own homes or to groups in the community to advice and provide personalised demonstrations of everyday living equipment and technologies to promote and maintain independence.
Health & Wellbeing
At Southampton Sight we aspire to nurture and enhance the health & wellbeing of local people who are visually impaired. Visual impairment can cause people to be less active and prone to isolation which can create a whole range of adverse health effects. We currently offer:
Cooking with Confidence – creating healthy delicious meals, understanding cooking instructions, using apps.
Emotional Wellbeing – a once weekly, 6-week course empowering those struggling with sight loss to move forward in life.
Looking Forward – a 2-day course run over a single week offering those newly diagnosed with sight loss an overview of what support, benefits, and technology is available.
Swimming – in partnership with Active Nation at The Quays Swimming and Diving Complex
Young People & Families
In partnership with Guide Dogs we offer young people and their families the chance to regularly get together and enjoy exciting high quality positive activities to promote and encourage life skills, independence and confidence.
