CLASP is an exciting, interactive and supportive charity, supporting adults with learning disabilities in the Wokingham Borough and surrounding areas. We offer a range of services which include having lots of fun but also working hard to make a positive difference to our community.

Our mission is: “To develop independence through self-advocacy for adults living with a learning disability”.  We deliver this through workshops and training, providing resources and signposting, and peer support.  We’re a small team of staff, volunteers and trustees and are a well-established part of the learning disability community.

CLASP believes that everyone should be valued and treated equally.  Staff and self-advocates work together to raise awareness of learning disabilities and important issues affecting the local learning disability community.  We empower people with learning disabilities to have the same opportunities and choices as everyone else.  Self-advocates are involved in all areas of the charity’s delivery and our Board of Trustees and staff team includes people with learning disabilities.

This is a discussion group led by members for members. We work on projects and campaigns to make things better for people with learning disabilities. Our sessions are friendly and fun, and everyone has the chance to speak up. Come along and be the voice that makes a positive change in your community.

We have worked on so many projects including the Wokingham Borough Council 5 year strategy for Adults with Learning Disabilities, a project for safer roads in Wokingham, supported HealthWatch with their review of websites for GPs and Dentists, worked with the library to make it more accessible for all – so many exciting and positive projects that there are too many to list. We are happy to work on anything that makes Wokingham a better place for us all to live.

These sessions take place every Friday at 10am to noon.

They are in the Bradbury Centre in Wokingham.

You need to be a member of CLASP and membership is free.

Each session costs £2.
