Virtual deaf drop in

At Enabled Living we provide a number of services that help Newham residents live the life they choose.

We offer community equipment to support people to continue to live independently in their own homes. We also work with people who are visually impaired, hard of hearing, Deaf and Deafblind, to assess and support them to be more independent, safe and confident. In addition, we assess and prescribe wheelchairs for Newham residents who need them, to make sure they get the right chair.

What we do and how we can help you

The Virtual Deaf Drop-In provides an opportunity for people living in Newham who are Deaf or hard of hearing to overcome communication barriers. Our virtual sessions are British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted and available via zoom.

We can support you with communication via zoom, such as:

  • assisting to make GP, dentist and hospital appointments
  • support with accessing other agencies and services
  • day to day enquiries about your home and utility services
  • assisting with telephone calls to schools, workplace, council housing repairs and bidding

We can also help with:

  • Reading and interpreting letters and correspondence
  • Interpreting and understanding forms so you are able to complete them i.e. benefits, immigration,
  • We work in partnership with Our Newham Money for Welfare support and debt management
