OPAL Breaktime

In April 2021, the OPAL Breaktime and OPAL Carers Connect services came together to form a new, more flexible support service for carers, called OPAL BreakTime Plus.

OPAL Breaktime Plus will provides carers in rural west Cheshire with carer breaks and opportunities to take up new interests or reconnect with past ones.  The scheme also supports carers in undertaking educational activities of their choice and by offering information about available resources that can help, such as introductions to technology that could enhance their lives. Carers will be offered opportunities to socialise, be listened to and understood and they will have the opportunity to participate in health and wellness activities. It will also continue to provide a Sitting Service which affords carers the opportunity to have a volunteer support the person with care needs in the home so that the carer can have a break from their caring responsibilities

Carers and the person they care for will become part of the wider OPAL community, giving them the opportunity to be part of a wider network and connect with others.

OPAL will provide tailored, carer services that will adapt to the needs of the carer as circumstances change so they can maintain their demanding caring role.

OPAL BreakTime Plus will support people living in any rural area of Cheshire West and Chester. Services will be offered at several rural locations, determined by there being suitable and available facilities which can be made covid secure.

As we emerge out of lockdown, we will provide an enhanced befriending service, comprising our OPAL Reach newsletter, activity packs, and our phone befriending service.
