VIP Companionship For Older People Volunteering Opportunities

VIP Companionship for Older People prevents older people who live alone in South Cambridgeshire from becoming socially isolated. Volunteer companions are matched with older people for monthly get-togethers and outings.

There are many reasons why people over the age of 70 can become socially isolated when they live alone, including bereavement, friends/family moving away from the area, loss of confidence or mobility/health issues.

If you’d enjoy taking someone on an outing once a month or meeting up for conversation and friendship, then VIP Companionship for Older People will match you with an older person who lives near you and shares similar interests. The time commitment required of volunteers is flexible and after an informal interview and Disclosure & Barring Service check, you will be introduced to your ‘VIP’ (Very Important/Independent Person).

Volunteer companions and VIPs then get to know each other through monthly get-togethers or outings – going to the cinema, a trip to the shops, a football match, afternoon tea in a garden centre.

If you would like to find out more, then contact Maddy (the founder of VIP Companionship) who will arrange to meet you for a chat.

Volunteering with VIP Companionship is free – expenses for travel/outings will be agreed in advance and are covered by the charity.
