The early help and prevention service works with children and families 0 to 19 years (or 25 with special educational needs and disability (SEND) across the whole of the East Riding of Yorkshire.

What does the early help and prevention service do?


Our teams offer a range of activities and services for children, young people and their families offering the right help at the right time so that families are resilient, feel confident, safe, healthy and happy. Our services include the following:

Information and advice 
Additional family support and services and activity sessions that are free and for all children and families 
Intensive family support for families who may need additional support to get through a difficult time.
Children’s Centre services for children aged 0-5 years
Children’s Centres offer support from the moment you know you are expecting a baby to when your child starts school and works together with midwives and health visitors to provide support for you and your family.

Children’s Centres offer sessions from antenatal parent classes, infant massage, baby groups and play and learn sessions as well as family support. Children’s Centres have a What's On guide that gives you brief information about each session that is offered and when it is available and how to join in. Families can access sessions at any Children’s Centre all are free and inclusive for all parents/carers and children.
