Zoom Peer Support Group

Zoom Peer Support Groups

"The support was mutual. When I was going through a low patch, I often received reassurance and kind words."

"It's not always about getting or giving advice. It's also about having a safe space to get things off our chest and occasionally sharing a laugh about it all!"

“Both quantitative and qualitative evidence indicate that peer support lowers the overall cost of mental health services by reducing re-hospitalization rates and days spent in inpatient services… Peer support improves quality of life, increases and improves engagement with services, and increases whole health and self-management.”

MHA, “Evidence for Peer Support” May 2018

We are delivering Peer Support Sessions over Zoom, funded by Burton on Trent Consolidated Charities for 6 months. This will be hosted by Sukhbinder and Alex, Community Help Associates. Sukhbinder has an OCN qualification in running recovery based workshops and has extensive experience in facilitating peer support groups.

Once a week, over Zoom, up to 8 people will be able to share their experiences of what is helping them with their mental health recovery. The format will open ended so that everyone has a chance to speak and learn new tips and ideas. We will kick off sessions in May 2021, on Thursday evenings 6pm – 8pm.
