Art for Wellbeing at West Berks Museum

This is a course for adults who would like to learn to make art but may not have the confidence or know where to start.

This course may be especially beneficial for anyone who may feel isolated or lonely or in poorer mental health.

All materials will be provided and there will be hot drink refreshments too.

No experience needed as you will be guided through making marks with different materials and offered easy optional projects to have a go at. If you'd prefer you may also sketch within the museum which will be closed to the public at the time of the course sessions.

Making art is inherently good for wellbeing finding that optimal state of challenging the brain enough but not too much to learn new things with a level of concentration, sometimes described as flow.

The emphasis of this course is on the act of making marks and exploring with curiosity not on producing masterpieces although I know that some beautiful work will emerge. You will not be under pressure and there will be time to chat with other participants in this small group if you wish too.
