Whitley Community Development Association

Whitley Community Development Association is a registered charity based on the Whitley estate in South Reading.  We are based within the community cafe in the  South Reading Hub. Our community development team facilitate the provision of benefits advice, health checks and food support.  We also respond to our community's needs by developing a range of activities in partnership with local residents. We work closely with the University of Reading on a number of different research projects. The researchers are recruited from within Whitley, providing a platform for local people to speak for themselves. our aim is to make sure every voice is accurately represented ensuring that every voice is heard.

Our food surplus is open Monday- Friday 10am -1pm providing perishable items as well as a community shop. We do not means test as TRUST is the key to how we work at WCDA.

Need help with filling out forms or want to check that you are getting the benefits you are entitled to? We are really lucky to have great partners Communicare, Welfare Rights and Citizens Advice who run sessions weekly for us. There is no charge for this and all Whitley residents are welcome.

All of our staff and trustees are local people with a positive vibrant Whitley at the heart of everything we do.
