ROLLA RHYTHMS TERM 1: EMPOWERING GIRLS THROUGH MUSIC AND MOVEM

Do you have girls aged 10-17 eager to discover an exciting new activity that combines music and movement? RollaDome All Skate is thrilled to present Rolla Rhythms, a unique initiative aimed at empowering girls from marginalized and/or marginalised groups through roller skating and music! 

Why join Rolla Rhythms? 

Music and Movement: Participants will not only learn to skate but also engage in DJ workshops and choreograph their routines to music they love. 

Completely Free: Thanks to the generous support from Nike and Spotify, this program is free to access. 

Experienced Instructors: Our team includes experienced skating coaches, professional DJs, and health facilitators. 

Location: Hosted at the Bridge Park Community Leisure Centre, making it easily accessible for North London residents. 

Holistic Approach: Incorporates mental health support, healthy eating workshops, and other essential life skills. 

Inclusive and Empowering: Specifically designed for girls from minoritised and marginalised backgrounds, fostering a sense of community and belonging. 
Program Highlights: 

Start Date: Wednesday, 22nd May 2024 
End Date: Wednesday, 26th June 2024 
Time: 16:30 – 18:30 every Wednesday 
Venue: Bridge Park Community Leisure Centre, Harrow Rd, London NW10 0RG 
Total Sessions: 18 weeks


Activities: 

Learn to Skate: Teaching the basics of roller skating and helping participants develop their skating skills.
Choreography: Creating and teaching synchronized skating routines set to music chosen by the participants. 
DJ Workshops: Teaching participants the basics of DJing, music selection, and mixing.
Special Workshops: Including mental health support, healthy eating, and other topics facilitated by Brent Public Health Department.


Dress Code: Please wear comfortable, appropriate skating attire—jog bottoms, leggings, or shorts are ideal. No jeans, skirts, ties, or dresses. Don’t forget to bring a drink to stay hydrated!

RollaRhythms Program:

The RollaRhythms program, supported by Joy's social prescribing platform, is designed to empower girls aged 10-17 from minoritised and/or marginalised groups in North London through music and movement. This initiative focuses on improving participants' mental wellbeing, confidence, and physical activity in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Components:
Learn to Skate: Teaching the basics of roller skating and helping participants develop their skating skills.

Access Criteria for RollaRhythms Program:
To ensure that the RollaRhythms program reaches those who will benefit the most, the following criteria apply:

Geographical Location:

Residents of  Boroughs of Brent
Age:Girls aged 10-17 years old.

Referral Sources:

Referrals can be made by healthcare professionals, social care workers, community organisations, and self-referrals themselves.

Eligibility:

Girls experiencing social, emotional, or practical issues that affect their health and wellbeing, including:

Mental health challenges (e.g., anxiety, depression)
Social isolation or loneliness
Long-term health conditions
Lifestyle-related issues (e.g., diet, exercise)
Financial or housing difficulties
School-related issues (e.g., risk of exclusion, academic support)
