First Steps ED

First Steps ED offer support to Children and Young people aged 5-25 in Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland with mild to moderate eating disorder symptoms or poor body image.

Fully funded support options include 1:1 CBT-T based support, an Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) pathway, parent/carer support, a range of virtual psycho-education workshops and a befriending service (support via email or video). 

Referrals are open to all genders and backgrounds and there doesn’t need to be an official mental health or eating disorder diagnosis from a registered health professional to access our services.  

Please note: we are not a clinical service so please make an appointment to see your GP whilst you wait to hear from us. It is important you receive medical monitoring if you are struggling.

Service access criteria:

Children and young people aged 5-25 in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland with mild to moderate eating disorder symptoms or poor body image are able to make a referral to access First Steps ED services.

Referrals that are unsuitable for First Steps ED services:

· Children under the age of 5

· Anyone with feeding problems such as diagnosed phobias, emetophobia or PICA.

· Anyone currently in crisis or under CAMHS crisis team.

Before you make a referral, or whilst you wait for an initial assessment we advise you to make an appointment with your general practitioner (GP).
