Community garden

We seek to help create and support happy, healthy, resilient communities, our proposal is the setting up and running of a sustainable community garden for individuals, local groups and organisations.

We have secured a site for the project and have all the necessary paperwork in place. The site is on the grounds of Barnards green cricket club in Malvern. This is on a previously unused corner of the grounds that is overgrown. Our main focus will be in the following three areas, Social- it will be a space for people to engage in nature, to tackle isolation and develop a community network. Education - We will be teaching transferable skills for employment as well as useful life skills and educating children in horticulture and nature based subjects.

Therapeutic - It will be of benefit to people in terms of physical and mental health as well as running sessions for people with disabilities and issues such as long term health problems or long term unemployment. We will be tapping into the social prescribing network as well as providing a space for other local groups/charities to utilize. . Participation will be from the very beginning as to establish a feeling of ownership from the participants. I am a permaculture practitioner and we be designing on these principles which means that people can learn permaculture and also their participation in the design process means the final design put in place will be fit for purpose and something people actually want to see there and will use.

On accepting a client we would then work with them to write an individual well-being plan to insure their needs are met and to identify what they would like to get out of joining us.We also run a number of other projects that we are able to offer people We have just moved to Rodway hall, Redland Road where we are now running all our regular events from ( asidw from the community garden) we are in need of volunteers for all of them,

Community meals – Volunteers for food prep and volunteers in the dining area for helping set up, pack away and during the meal

Community hub – set up, pack away, helping prep and serve a light lunch. We also have a kids area, sewing machine area, clothes swap and give away surplus produce. So there are many ways people can get involved depending on their interests/skills.

Community seed bank – Volunteers to help on the day or to help collect/save seed and generally help develop the seed bank.
