DESCRIPTION

  • This walk starts and ends in Grasmere, and we pop by the Gingerbread Shop to stock up before the walk ends at an iconic Lake District pub in town.
  • The Gingerbread shop in Grasmere is a must-stop shop in the Lake District.
  • Sarah Nelson's created the recipe in 1854, it's described as a 'tantalising, mouth-watering cross taste sensation'. I'm a fan, and can also recommend their rum butter for your toast!
  • The walk is around 5 miles (8km) and ascends up Lord Crag to give us views over Grasmere and Rydal Water.
  • The highest point on this route is 450m, and we start at approximately 50m, so there is a medium hill to ascend. The walk takes around 4 hours.
  • We walk at a steady pace for this hike; a moderate level of fitness will suffice.
