Mencap

People with a learning disability need to have their voices heard. At Mencap we make sure all our work is guided by them.

Our vision statement shows that we want people with a learning disability to be listened to and included in all aspects of life.

Successful campaigns like Hear My Voice show that the personal experiences of people with a learning disability are influencing all parts of Mencap’s work.

You tell us what you need and we will give you a personalised support package – the purpose of all the support we provide is to help people with a learning disability be as independent as possible and live the life they want.

Sometimes that means giving people a bit of extra support with day-to-day activities like going to the shops, sometimes it means round-the-clock support, sometimes it means giving carers the break they need to carry on supporting someone. We support people in a way that fits around their lives.

The assistance we provide supports people to become more independent and grow in confidence to the point where they need less from us.
