Gentle Movements

In these Gentle Movements sessions you’ll be guided through a series of subtle, soothing and flowing exercises which will help you move a little more easily, encourage you to listen to your body and invite a sense of joy and stillness. Gentle Movements sessions run in Cambridge weekly during term time. The sessions are held at the Friends Meeting House on Hartington Grove, there are plenty of parking spaces. There are also weekly sessions held online.

The Gentle Movements sessions are run by Moniek Hopman. The groups are small and the atmosphere is relaxed. It is recommended that you wear comfortable, warm clothing and bring a blanket or mat to lie on if possible. Each session starts with a body scan to shift your attention away from daily hassles and worries towards the needs of your body. Moniek will then guide you through subtle exercises to help you move more easily and make your body feel better. The sessions generally start with floor based explorations and relaxation, and finish with more active, standing exercises that will leave you feeling energised. If any of the movements do not feel comfortable, you will be supported to adapt them, or encouraged to leave them out.

Moniek’s approach is based on a range of movement practices including Qigong, Feldenkrais, Yoga and dance. For more information on these practices, visit the Gentle Movements website.  Your first session is a free taster session. Future sessions are subject to a fee. You can choose to pay per session on a drop-in rate, or pay a reduced termly fee. There is a reduced rate for low income earners.
