Recovery Devon

Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes

At Recovery Devon we believe that with the right support and help people with mental health issues can and do recover and live meaningful and purposeful lives of their own choosing. Since 2003 we have actively promoted this idea and sought to put recovery and wellbeing at the heart of mental health provision.

Recovery is a deeply personal process with no "one size fits all." Our recovery values of Hope, Choice, and Opportunity steer our activity, guided by what people need, rather than imposing a structure.

Our current activities include:

  • Pop-ups, drop-ins, and workshops at cafes and community spaces where people can chat informally about their mental health
  • Recovery training for health, social care, and third sector groups
  • Supporting statutory services on research and engagement with people with lived experience of mental illness
  • Open events and talks to which all are invited
  • Opportunities to create recovery resources e.g. podcasts, videos, writing, and art
  • An annual Recovery Development Fund; small, easy-to-apply funding pots designed for people whose lived experience has given them an idea about how to make a difference
  • Creating and distributing anthologies of recovery stories

Recovery Devon have 3 part-time staff, working from home in North Devon, East Devon, South Hams and Teignbridge.

We aim to offer our support to groups and individuals across all of Devon (excluding Plymouth, which is subject to different funding.)
