Rooted in Nature

We know that being outdoors and connecting with nature is good for us all, so Rooted in Nature is a great, practical project for supporting overall wellbeing and good mental health.

The main focus of this project is for you to get out into nature and enjoy it, meet new people, develop new interests and learn new skills.

Who is this service for?
Rooted in Nature offers one to one support and advice to individuals and families with mental health needs.

No experience, skills or knowledge is needed to take part in any of the activities provided.

To access this service you must be:

  • aged 10+ (please note parental consent and supervision will be required for those under the age of 16)
  • living in Middlesbrough

What we can do to help you

By getting involved and outdoors with one of our activities you will

  • improve your health and wellbeing
  • reduce stress and anxiety
  • become more active
  • learn new skills and gain new hobbies
  • boost your confidence and self esteem
  • see the connection between health and nature
  • meet new people and make new connections

We do this through activities such as 

  • walk and talk groups
  • basket weaving
  • wood work
  • growing and planting foods
  • gardening
  • conservation
  • campfire cooking
  • meditation
